Open call: Join the ICARE Cultural Art Lab with MET in Romania!

The first ICARE Cultural Art Lab open call is here! The Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography in Cluj-Napoca is inviting people with migrant backgrounds living in Romania to explore cultural heritage, share their perspectives, and create their own collaborative artistic and cultural projects.

Over the course of the programme, participants will work alongside artists, cultural professionals, and the museum expert team, experimenting with different creative approaches and exploring the city’s culture and history through their own experiences and ideas.

What does the Lab involve?

The Cultural Art Lab combines local activities in Cluj-Napoca with an international experience in Warsaw.

The Romanian group will first meet locally to get to know each other and explore ideas. From the 12th to 18th of April 2027, participants will travel to the Museum of Warsaw for a creative lab week together with groups from Poland, Italy, and the Czech Republic.

Back in Cluj-Napoca, they will continue working together until March 2028, developing a cultural or artistic project to share with the public. This could be an exhibition, a guided tour, a performance or something entirely different.

You don’t need to be an artist or have any previous experience! The Lab is about curiosity, sharing different perspectives, experimenting and creating together.

The call is open to people who:

  • are aged 18 or older
  • are citizens of a country outside the European Union
  • currently live in Romania
  • have basic conversational English (approximately A2)
  • are interested in culture, heritage, creativity and working with others

Participation is free of charge, and travel, accommodation and meals for the international week in Warsaw are covered by the project.
